Upon graduation, he got an offer to work at a French fashion company in Shanghai. Starting as an assistant to a French designer, Yang became a designer at the company in just three months.
Later, he quit the job to tour Europe and Australia.
"It was a mind-opening tour and I learned so much about the fashion industry," he says.
In 2012, Yang returned home to study fashion designing at the graduate school of the Sichuan art institute.
"It was a period of self-discovery," he says. "I read a lot, tried a lot and I finally found my style."
His favorite designers include German designer Jil Sander and the "Antwerp six" including Dries Van Noten and Marina Yee.
"From the day I started to design, I have always liked minimalism," he says.
His collections-Red and Rubik's Cube-have gained him much recognition.
Bold colors, geometric lines and minimalist cuts mark his work.
"My clothes are also very easy to wear," he says.
"My target client is the 30 plus urban woman with a good income and taste."
Yang's works are sold in more than 30 selected shops in China. Recently two stores in New York have started working with Yang.
