A dream of making independent films

The Girl Told Me, the latest short film by 27-year-old director Zhang Rui (first right), starts shooting in Lu'an city, Anhui province, on May 5, 2012. Zhang is originally from the rural area of Jinzhai county, Anhui province. After graduating from a fine arts college in 2008, he worked different jobs while teaching himself how to make films. In September 2011, he started his own film studio and shot his first independent, Aquarium, which won a local film award. Zhang is on the road to achieving his dream of becoming a film director.
