New dike suffers dozens of cave-ins after rain
A cave-in is seen at a new flood-prevention dike on the Yellow River in Shuangjing village, Yuanyang county, Central China's Henan province, Aug 11, 2010. The dike, which was built almost a year ago but hasn't gone through quality acceptance checks, suffered more than 80 cave-ins along 2 kilometers after it was hit by the recent rains. Nearby villagers were in doubt about the dike's quality and said their safety was threatened. "Even a rain can cause such damage to this newly built dyke. What if there is a flood of the Yellow River?" one villager said. [Photo/Xinhua]
