Liang Yong, a patient at the Aimin
Weight Reduction Hospital in China's northern port city of Tianjin awaits
acupuncture treatment to control his appetite. Yong, who is 19-years-old, weighs
176 kilograms. Doctors at the centre ensure the patients, who are mostly
children, follow a strict regime of heavy exercise, low-fat meals and Chinese
and western medicine. Doctors said adolescent obesity was rising because parents
had more money to spend on food and televisions. [Photo by Natalie Behring]
