URUMCHI -- A fire that erupted at midnight Monday in a high-rise commercial building in downtown Urumqi, capital of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, has been put out, and no casualties were reported, police said Tuesday.
The flame, which ripped through an office on the top floor of the 22-story International Trade Mansion, was extinguished at about 00:14 am, one hour after the fire was reported, said Peng Weimin, director of the fire brigade of Urumqi.
The fire broke out from an office room beside the elevator equipment room on the top floor, said Peng.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
