Iraq's army chief of staff is calling for US forces to stay in the country for another decade, reinforcing his stance that his country's military forces aren't ready to secure the nation on their own, AFP reported. "At this point, the withdrawal (of US forces) is going well, because they are still here," Lieutenant General Babaker Zebari said Wednesday. "But the problem will start after 2011; the politicians must find other ways to fill the void after 2011." Under the security pact between Baghdad and Washington, all US troops are scheduled to leave by the end of next year. |
