Rats have plagued New York City subway for decades. Despite efforts to get rid of them with traps and poison, subway riders still spot them on a regular basis, AP reported. Research by the health department found that the main attraction is the room where trash is stored. The rats live in the walls behind the trash. A family of 8 to 12 rats can make its home in one cinderblock, and every cinderblock in a wall can be occupied "much like apartment buildings".(See photo)
