A Colombian beauty queen is recovering in a hospital after an unknown attacker threw acid at her face. Maria Fernanda Nunez (see photo) was returning home from a contest rehearsal last Thursday when the attack happened, the Venezuela-based Latin American Herald Tribune reported. The attacker escaped on a motorbike. Ms Nunez has since called for a boycott of the Miss Columbia pageant, asking her local province to refrain from entering a contestant to compete in the nationwide competition.
