Two Dutch villages have come up with a novel way of cutting welfare payments - encouraging jobless women to find rich men, local media reported. The councils are spending EUR1,400 on each woman to have her hair done and get help with her image. They will also get tips on social skills and presentation. Once the transformation is finished, the women will be registered at a local marriage bureau. If 70 women find husbands, the council can save EUR400,000 on welfare payments. |
