More than 500 white swans dropped by to rest at Wild Duck Lake in Yanqing, a county north of Beijing, about 10 times as many as last year.
The lake is Beijing's largest wetland and an ideal habitat for migrant birds. Because of a fishing ban on the nearby Guanting Reservoir since March, the number of migrant birds flying to the lake for rest and a bit of food has increased dramatically, the Beijing News reports.
