Most shanghai parks free to public

With 24 more free parks to open to the public this year, 120 parks in Shanghai, or nearly 90 percent of local parks are expected to be free of charge, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.

There is currently of 136 parks in Shanghai, with 96, or 70 percent of them free parks at the end of last year.

Except for 16 parks including classic parks such as the Yuyuan Garden and Shanghai Daguanyuan Garden, special parks such as Shanghai Zoo and Shanghai Botanic Garden and parks invested by companies such as the Century Park, the other 120 parks will be free this year.

Shanghai will establish 2,100 hectares of new green space this year, up 200 hectares from the previous year, with 1,000 hectares of them public green space, enabling the city's public green spaces to reach 11 square meters per capita, up one square meter from last year.
