Celtic urged to sign Chinese defender
(CRI)
Updated: 2005-08-07 22:26

Former Celtic stopper Ramon Vega insists that Celtic can snap up a rare gem in Du Wei if they sign the Chinese defender.

Vega, a former Swiss international, is the man who spotted the football and marketing potential of the former skipper of Chinese national Olympic team during a trip to Shanghai and brought him to Scotland on trial.

Vega says Du Wei is very talented and smart and he believes Du Wei is a fit for the club.

He believes that Du Wei, if signed by Celtic, will help the
Scottish club to snatch a share of Chinese market.

Celtic boss Strachan will decide in the next few days whether Du Wei deserves a deal or to extend his trial period, as Strachan tries to beef up his squad for the domestic season.
