Rate of Chinese businesswomen higher than world average: study

A study conducted by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor shows that the rate of Chinese female private business owners is higher than the world average, with more than 11 out of 100 females aged from 18 to 64 running a business.

The survey says the global average stands at about seven out of 100.

An official with the All-China Women's Federation says the Chinese government emphasizes women's role in economic construction and provides great opportunities for career women.

The survey involves more than 40 countries and regions.

The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor is a non-profit research project carried out by over 20 authors and researchers at the United New Zealand Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
