Munich 1860's Chinese midfielder Shao Jiayi scored his first goal this season in a German Division 2 match against Karlsruhe Saturday, helping the team earn a hard-won draw.

Shao started his team as an attacking midfielder. After a disappointing loss in World Cup qualifier, he is anxious to prove himself and seek a position in the starting lineup.

But the Chinese playmaker committed an unforgiving fault in the 33rd minute, when his backward pass was volleyed by rivals and gave Karlsruhe a chance to take the lead.

1860 took command of the game in the second half. After failing to find the net on a fierce drive at close range, Shao finally scored the equalizer in the 63rd with a header off a corner kick.

1860 stands 7th in the standings, only two points clear from the relegation zone.
