Wang Zhizhi excluded from Athens Olympic squad

China Basketball Association (CBA) announced the long-expected list of 18-member squad for the Athens Olympics Wednesday, March 3, 2004. Wang Zhizhi of Miami Heat was excluded from the squad.

Other two Chinese players in NBA, Yao Ming and Munk Bateer, are enrolled in the list.

Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Del Harris was hired last month to coach the Olympic team. Harris' assistants include former coach of Lithuanian national team Jonas Kazlauskas and two Chinese coaches, Min Lulei and A Dijiang.

List of the Olympic squad:

Yao Ming, Chen Ke, Li Ke, Li Nan, Zhang Jingsong, Fan Bin, Mo Ke, Yi Jianlian, Du Feng, Zhu Fangyu, Munk Bateer, Jiao Jian, Zhang Yunsong, Wang Bo, Liu Wei, Tang Zhengdong, Hu Xuefeng, Xue Yuyang

China finished 10th at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and 12th at the 2002 World Championships in Indianapolis.
