The signing ceremony of the Agreement of Memorandum between the Macau Weather Bureau and the Macau 2005, 4th East Asian Games Organising Committee (MEAGOC) was held on 13 September at MEAGOC Headquarters. The agreement will enhance the preparation and the hosting of the Games because it guarantees professional meteorological analysis and specific technical data for the outdoor competitions.

The ceremony took place in the afternoon, when the Chairman of the Board of Directors of MEAGOC, Manuel Silvério, signed the memorandum with the Director of the Macau Weather Bureau, Fong Soi Kun. The bureau will provide full support and meteorological service through the renewed official website of the 4th East Asian Games. Climate, meteorological data, weather topics, air quality and weather forecasts will be displayed on the website. Meanwhile, the bureau will also provide an alarm or signal when bad weather approaches to ensure the safety of all events and the success of the 4th East Asian Games.

Manuel Silvério expressed gratitude to the Macau SAR government and all departments for their full support and cooperation. He stressed that a detailed and up-to-the-minute weather forecast, together with the meteorological data, would be a key addition and service for the 4th East Asian Games. Under the professional, technical support of the bureau, MEAGOC believes that with the relevant information provided in advance, it will aid the hosting of the Games and enable organisers to make contingency plans and arrangements.

Manuel Silvério also stressed that MEAGOC would continue to establish contacts with various organisations for cooperation to host the 4th East Asian Games in less than 50 days.
