Mundell, Schwab to discuss China's macro control

Nobel laureate Professor Robert A Mundell, known as the founding father of the euro, and professor Klaus Schwab, chairman of the World Economic Forum, will deliver lectures on the scientific development view, macroscopic adjustment and China's sustainable development respectively at the 2004 China Economic Summit of the 7th China Beijing International High-tech Expo May 21 in Beijing.

With a PhD degree in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mundell has laid out a theoretical foundation for the exchange rate of the euro with his theory on the monetary and fiscal-policy mix and of optimum currency areas. As a result, Mundell received the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Science.

At the "International Forum on High-growth Corporations and the Financial Market" of the 6th Beijing high-tech expo in 2003, Mundell held a dialogue with domestic and foreign economists that considerably influenced the economics circle.
