The information industry, as one of the most attractive fields in the high-tech Expo, boasts noteworthy achievements in past Expo sessions, according to Lou Qinjian, vice-minister of the Information Industry Ministry, at the Expo's organization meeting on April 8.
Lou praised the event as a leading force in the information industry's rapid growth in recent years.
In 2003 the information industry achieved 1.88 trillion yuan in revenue, 34 percent higher than 2002.
Having attracted some of the world's top 500 IT (information technology) giants and domestic IT leaders in previous years, the Expo is perceived as a solid platform for the information industry as a whole.
Meanwhile, the Expo can also take advantage of opportunities in the world's IT trend and expand its influence in IT by calling on more IT enterprises to come and promote IT innovations.
Lou pledged that the Ministry of Information Industry would fully support the Expo's organization and conduct a close cooperation.
