The following is the biographical sketch of Li Meng, who was just elected vice-chairperson of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC):

Male, born in 1937, a native of Boxing county, Shandong province.

Graduated from Department of Electrical Engineering of Qinghua University in 1960; postgraduate of Automation of Qinghua University in 1960-1965.

Designer of Automation Section at Electrical Machinery Institute of Harbin Electrical Machinery Plant, Heilongjiang Province, in 1965-69; and examiner, designer, section chief, division chief, deputy chief engineer, assistant to director and deputy director of Dongfang Electrical Machinery Plant, in 1969-1972.

Assistant to the governor of Sichuan Province in 1992-93; vice-governor of Sichuan Province in 1993-95.

Elected vice-chairman of the Central Committee of Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party (CPWDP) and vice-governor of Sichuan province in 1995-1997 and vice-chairman and executive chairman of the CPWDP Central Committee from 1997 to date.

Member of 9th NPC Standing Committee in 1998, and vice-chairman of the Environment and Resources Protection Committee of the NPC.
