The following is a biographical sketch of Abdulahat Abdurixit, who was just elected vice-chairman of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC):

Abdulahat Abdurixit, male, born in March 1942; of the Uygur nationality, native of Yining of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region; joined the CPC in July 1960; 1965 graduate of the Motor Engineering Department of the Xinjiang Institute of Engineering; holding the professional title of senior engineer.

Technician and engineer at the Construction Survey and Designing Institute of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in 1965-1980; vice president of the Construction Survey and DesigningInstitute of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in 1980-1983; deputy director of the Planning Commission of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in 1983-1991; vice chairman of the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in 1991-1993; deputy secretary of the CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee and acting chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region government in 1993-1994; deputy secretary of the CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee and chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region government in 1994-2003; elected chairman of the standing committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional people's congress in 2003.

Member of the 15th and 16th CPC central committees.
