INDIAN WELLS, Calif. - Lindsay Davenport won her opening match yesterday in the Pacific Life Open and Maria Sharapova and Martina Hingis joined her in the third round of the rain-delayed tournament.

Sharapova, the No. 3 seed, beat Jamea Jackson of the United States 6-4, 6-3 and Hingis, making a comeback after three years in retirement, was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Camille Pin of France.

Hingis, seeded 19th, is a possible fourth-round opponent for No. 2 seed Davenport.

Sharapova and Davenport could meet in a rematch of last year's semifinal that Davenport won 6-0, 6-0.

Davenport, 29, finished her match early in the afternoon by beating Ashley Harkleroad 6-0, 6-0 before rain forced a three-hour, 41-minute delay of the men's first-round and women's second-round matches.
