Militants kidnap two foreigners in Gaza (Xinhua) Updated: 2006-02-04 15:50
Two foreigners were kidnapped in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, Palestinian
security sources said.
The two, whose nationalities were not immediately known, were dragged by
unknown Palestinian militants out of their car as they were driving in central
Gaza, said the sources.
No group claimed responsibility for the abduction yet.
Foreigners in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank have been in danger of being
targeted as hostage amid a worldwide Muslim protest over publications of
cartoons depicting Prophet Mohammad, which was originally printed in a Danish
newspaper in September last year and reprinted by other European newspapers.
A German national was briefly kidnapped and released on Thursday in the West
Bank city of Nablus.
