Grizzlies continue winning streak: Stoudamire leaving on stretcher

PORTLAND, Ore. - Mike Miller scored 15 of his 23 points in the second quarter and the Memphis Grizzlies held on to beat the Portland Trail Blazers 93-90 on Friday night.

Pau Gasol added 18 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for Memphis.

Ruben Patterson scored 22 points and Zach Randolph added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Blazers.

Memphis guard Damon Stoudamire, a Portland native who played more than seven seasons for the Blazers, suffered a sprained right knee and was wheeled off the floor on a stretcher late in the second quarter after slipping and crashing to the floor.

Portland trailed by as many as 15 points in the second half, but rallied to get within 90-88 on Patterson's rebound put-back with 18.9 seconds left.

Eddie Jones then increased the lead to four with two free throws before Juan Dixon made a layup to get Portland within 92-90.

Bobby Jackson hit one of two free throws with 10 seconds left and the Blazers missed a chance to force overtime when Randolph missed a 3 at the buzzer.

Shane Battier 17 points and rebounds for the Grizzlies. Jones had 15 points.

Stoudamire leaves floor on stretcher

PORTLAND, Ore. - Memphis guard Damon Stoudamire was taken off the floor on a stretcher in the first half of the Grizzlies' game with the Portland Trail Blazers after losing his footing and crashing to the ground.

Stoudamire suffered a sprained right knee, said Grizzlies spokeswoman Stacey Mitch, and was being further evaluated at the Rebound Clinic in the Rose Garden Arena.

Stoudamire, a Portland native who played more than seven seasons for the Blazers, slipped while driving to the hoop with just with 4:02 left in the half and Memphis leading 45-35. He landed on his back side, staying motionless with his head buried in his arm for few minutes until being taken off the court.

Stoudamire, who signed a four-year deal with Memphis in the offseason, had four points, six rebounds and three assists in 14 minu
