NEW YORK (AFP) - Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant was named the NBA's
Western Conference Player of the Week for the second straight week.

winning his third weekly award of the season and helping the Lakers to a 2-1
mark, Bryant averaged 40.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in three games.
He scored an NBA season-high 62 points against the Dallas Mavericks on December
20 in just three quarters - the most points in the league in over 11 years.
Two weeks ago, the Lakers sharpshooter averaged 33.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and
3.8 assists.
Eastern Conference honors went to New Jersey Nets guard Vince Carter.
Carter averaged 39.3 points, 6.0 assists and 7.3 rebounds to lead the Nets to
a 3-0 week. He tied his career-high with 51 points in New Jersey's 95-88 win at
Miami on Friday.
