Owen looking forward to Liverpool return (China Daily) Updated: 2005-12-22 07:11
Owen's goals have helped propel Newcastle up into 10th place in the
Premiership, six points behind third-placed Liverpool, after he himself was
sidelined by a combination of hamstring and groin injuries.
Owen's value to Newcastle can be seen from the fact that of the eight games
he has started the north-east side have won six and drawn one with only one
defeat, while his partnership with former England striker Alan Shearer is
currently worth 10 goals.
"I've really enjoyed being back in the Premiership and being back up here,"
he said. "I had a few mates before I came and I've made a few more since. It's
been good.
"I've enjoyed the Premiership, enjoyed the English cold weather and
everything else, and I'm enjoying my football.
"I didn't come to a club that was top of the table when I joined - I think we
were second from bottom. I was prepared to come in and play my way up the
league, and it's certainly improved since then.
"We have been unfortunate with injuries, but when
everyone has been fit, the results have been quite good. That's the key because
I don't think we have got the biggest squad in the world, but what we have got
is quite a lot of quality in the numbers we have got.
