WTO to forge working teams against bird flu (Xinhua) Updated: 2005-11-27 14:09 The World Health Organization
has said it would set up international working teams of various functions to
offer countries advices on battling avian flu.
The health agency said in a report that it would render emergent support to
the countries where animal or human bird flu cases were found and those who were
making flu vaccine search or preparing to produce vaccines.
The working teams would be formed to offer advices directly to the
governments of the nations according to their needs, concerns and capabilities.
The groups would focus on issues related to human vaccine production. They
were aimed at boosting vaccine production in an efficient way with economic
benefits.
The WHO also contended that several countries' mock exercises of fighting
bird flu were worthwhile but too expensive.
It suggested an international expert team be set up to carry out such
exercises to ensure fighting experiences can be shared among countries.
