Plushenko celebrates Grand Prix win

European champion Evgeny Plushenko delighted his home fans by taking victory in the Russian Cup Grand Prix event here on Saturday.

The former triple world champion edged out Swiss skater Stephane Lambiel, the current world champion, while Amercia's Johnny Weir was third.

Earlier world and European champion Irina Slutskaya of Russia won the women's event ahead of Japanese duo of Miki Ando and Yoshie Onda who were second and third respectively.

World and European champions Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin captured the pairs title.

The all-conquering Russian duo beat compatriots Julia Obertas and Sergei Slavnov, with Dorota Zagorska and Mariusz Siudek of Poland taking the bronze.
