"Since the injury, I was able to work on my forehand and my service and it has paid off," she said. "I feel great now."

Schiavone lost her eighth straight match to Clijsters, including a third time this year. Schiavone, 0-5 in WTA finals, was coming off a three-set victory Saturday over Michaella Krajicek.

"Physically, I wasn't the best today," Schiavone said. "It's been a great week for me, but yesterday's match took a lot out of me, and it can't be like this when you play Kim."
