World number two Kim Clijsters remained on course for her ninth title of the year with a convincing 6-2 6-3 victory over Germany's Julia Schruff at the Hasselt Open quarter-finals on Friday.

The U.S. Open champion will meet Dinara Safina in the semi-finals after the Russian overcame Slovenia's Katarina Srebotnik 4-6 6-2 7-6, taking the deciding tiebreak 11-9.

Clijsters turned on the style from start to finish to oust the Schruff, ranked 83 in the world, after wrapping up the first set in 25 minutes.
