With the retractable roof open again at Minute Maid Park on another pleasant night, Jermaine Dye doubled with two outs in the first before Backe made a nice stab on Paul Konerko's comebacker to end the inning.

Craig Biggio singled leading off the bottom half and moved up on Willy Taveras' sacrifice, but Lance Berkman struck out and Morgan Ensberg bounced back to the mound.

A.J. Pierzynski hit a liner back at Backe in the second, but he knocked it down and threw to first for the out.

Mike Lamb opened the Houston second with a double off the right-field fence, but Jason Lane and Brad Ausmus fanned before Adam Everett grounded out.

Scott Podsednik tripled with two outs in the White Sox third before Tadahito Iguchi grounded out.

The White Sox entered 10-1 in the postseason and had won 15 of 16 games overall going back to the regular season. They were trying to match the 1999 New York Yankees as the only teams to go through the postseason with just one loss since the extra round of playoffs was added in 1995.
