Saddam met Iraqi officials before trial- Arabiya TV

Saddam Hussein met a group of Iraqi officials, including national security adviser Mowaffaq al-Rubaie, at a Baghdad courtroom shortly before he was due to go on trial on Wednesday, Al Arabiya television said.

The television's Baghdad correspondent said the judge who will preside over the trial was absent from the meeting. She gave no further details.

Saddam is being put on trial on charges of crimes against humanity.
