East China on alert as Typhoon Longwang approaching
East China's Fujian Province is on the alert as Typhoon Longwang is expected to reach the province on Sunday night, according to the provincial weather bureau. Typhoon Longwang, the Chinese name for a legendary dragon king which takes care of the world's rain, has reached Taiwan on Sunday morning and is moving to Fujian at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour. The typhoon might cause serious impact to the province, according to the local meteorological bureau. Local government has asked the boats on the sea to return, and tourism departments to inform travelers about the typhoon. Some activities celebrating the National Day might be canceled according to the situation of the typhoon. In September, three typhoons have landed at China including Talim, Khanun and Damrey, more than the average 1.63 typhoons every September since the founding of new China in 1949. The typhoons have wrecked great havoc in China, leaving about 33.13 million people affected and about 160 dead.
