Hong Kong's Chief Executive Donald Tsang and legislators triggered a two-day visit to the Pearl River Delta Sunday morning.

Speaking at a press conference before the tour, Tsang said Hong Kong has an ever closer relationship with the Pearl River Delta because of adjacent locations, so they need a better understanding and closer cooperation.

Tsang noted that the group will have a brief vision of the province's latest development during the trip, which will help them solve Hong Kong's own problems.

The trip will also promote communication between the legislators and the mainland, Tsang added.

With Tsang as the group's leader and Legislative Council President Rita Fan the co-leader, it is the first time that all HK's legislators have been invited to visit the mainland as a group.

Except for one legislator who is absent for another visit, all the rest 59 legislators join the tour.

The group also includes Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Frederick Ma and the Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology John Tsang.

The group will visit Shenzhen, Dongguan, Guangzhou and Zhongshan, meeting local officials and touring socio-economic, industrial and infrastructural facilities. Guangdong provincial government leaders will brief the group on the province's latest developments.
