With this victory, Domachowska, finalist at 2005 Strasbourg Open, cruised to the quarters, her third time in WTA tours.

Domachowska, No. 1 in Poland and 64th in world, hit drop shots short several times in the first set, but improved in the second and lifted the win upon 32 winners.

The 19-year-old Domachowska, who never played Zheng before, beat Chinese Peng Shuai and Li Ting separately at 2005 Strasbourg Open and 2005 Australian Open, but dropped to Li Na, another Chinese player, at 2005 Hobart Open.
