Li’s presence in the Shenzhen defence will be a welcome relief for Guo with Zhou Ting suspended and Xin Feng an injury doubt for Wednesday.

Al Ahli arrived in south-eastern China on Sunday in confident mood after their strong performance in Jeddah. Despite his team’s narrow advantage, Serbo-Montenegrin coach Ilija Lukic is upbeat about their chances in the return match.

“Everything is okay at the moment and we are ready,” said Lukic to FootballAsia.com. “The team is fully ready and we are going to China to win the game.”

Al Ahli have concerns over the fitness of Brazilian striker Rogerio, who is nursing a foot injury. The 30-year-old, who scored the opening goal in Jeddah, is receiving treatment from the team’s medical staff to prepare him for the game.

“Maybe Rogerio will miss the game as he is too tired and he had an injury in his foot. We’ll see what we can do in order to bring his fitness back so that he can play the game,” said Lukic.

Midfielder Taiseer Al Jassam is a definite absentee though. The 21-year-old has remained in Saudi Arabia to be with his family after a serious car accident involving his brother.
