Real estate business receipts up 41% in HK (Xinhua) Updated: 2005-09-17 10:44
Business receipts in value terms of all service industries rose in the second
quarter over the same period last year, the Hong Kong's Census & Statistics
Department said.
Business receipts of the real estate and hotel industries grew 41.2 percent
and 22.4 percent, fueled by the buoyant property market and sustained growth in
inbound tourism.
Increases were also seen in transport (+15.1 percent), insurance (+14.5
percent), banking (+11.6 percent), financing (except banking) (+11.1 percent),
storage (+10.8 percent) and import and export trades (+10.3 percent).
Business receipts of the tourism, convention and exhibition services grew
11.9 percent, also attributable to tourism growth.
Business receipts of the computer and information services grew 27.2 percent.
Comparing the second quarter with the first, larger increases were seen in
the insurance (+12.4 percent), import and export trades (+11.3 percent),
transport (+7.9 percent), storage (+7.8 percent) and business services (+6.5
percent) industries.
But falls were recorded in the restaurants (-3.1 percent) and film
entertainment (-2.2 percent) industries.
