Promoting employment a strategic task: Vice premier

Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju said here Wednesday that promoting employment is a necessary for China to sustain its economic and social development.

In a meeting with Zdenek Skromach, Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, and his party, Huang said solving the employment problem is an important and arduous task for China, which is heavily populated.

He said the Chinese government attaches great importance to the employment issue and has adopted a series of policies to provide more jobs.

China will create more job opportunities through reform and development to enable people to live and work in peace and contentment, Huang said.

Reports showed that by June this year, China's registered unemployment rate in cities and towns was 4.2 percent with 8.32 million people out of work.

Skromach was invited by China's Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
