Rooney settles differences with Beckham

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has ended his feud with England captain David Beckham by apologising to his international teammate.

The England team-mates have spoken warmly on several occasions since being pulled apart in the dressing-room as they seek to minimise disruption to a World Cup qualifying campaign that has stuttered badly in the past fortnight.

The Times says Rooney has had a number of conversations with Beckham in which two of England's most prominent characters have made their peace.

It has been denied that the source of conflict was Beckham's supposedly favoured status under Sven-Goran Eriksson, that Rooney described the midfield player  with abusive words or that punches were thrown.
