Katrina hits US Gulf Coast

Apartments complex. Authorities believe at least 30 people lost their lives in
the complex when Hurricane Katrina made landfall Monday. Ralph, who had only
been a resident for nine months, said she lost more than just her dog, 'I lost
my friends, my possessions, everything.' [AP]

Bowie and Turner had decided to ride out Hurricane Katrina when they could not
find a way to leave the city. Bowie, who had lung cancer, died when he ran out
