Mosquitos Ae. aegypti, a major medium of Dengue Fever, have been recently intercepted for the first time at Basuo Port in Dongfang City, in southernmost China'sHainan Province.

The disease-carrying insects were detected on some inbound ships from Dengue Fever contaminated areas in Vietnam, according to the local animal inspection and quarantine authority.

The authority said between January and August it conducted mosquito extiration treatments on 169 vessels from the Dengue-Fever-contaminated areas in Vietnam, effectively preventing the disease and other mosquito-borne diseases, such as epidemic encephalitis B from being infected through the port, which is a major border trade channel with Vietnam.

It is reported that in the first half of this year, the southern part of Vietnam suffered an outbreak of Dengue Fever, with more than 6,400 people infected.
