Tamil Tiger sniper kills govt soldier in Sri Lanka (AP) Updated: 2005-08-16 15:44
A suspected Tamil Tiger rebel sniper shot and killed a government soldier
Tuesday, police said, AP reported.
The assailants also opened fire on a separate army guard post in northeastern
Sri Lanka, police said, but no one was injured.
The attacks were the first killing of a government soldier since the
assassination of the country's foreign minister on Friday. That killing
heightened fears that Sri Lanka's three-year-old cease-fire may
collapse.
