Chinese club seeking more from Celtic for Du Wei (Reuters) Updated: 2005-08-15 09:42
BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua have asked Celtic to raise
their offer for international defender Du Wei, Xinhua news agency said on
Saturday.
Shenhua did not say how much the Scottish club had offered,
although a price of 800,000 pounds has been reported.
"There is a gap between our expected price and their offer," club boss Wu
Jinan told the Shanghai Youth Daily.
Du Wei, 23, had a three-day trial at Celtic last week before heading back to
China.
Celtic paraded their 2.75 million pounds Japan midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura
on the eve of the new Scottish season at the end of July.
Nakamura, the first Japanese footballer to play in Scotland, told a news
conference all he knew about the country was bagpipes and Highland dancing.
