BEIJING ¨C Holders Shandong Luneng took a big step towards the semi-finals of the China FA Cup on Wednesday with a 2-1 away win over Inter Shanghai, while China Super League leaders Dalian Shide advanced to the last four despite a 1-0 defeat at Shenzhen Jianlibao.

Shandong, who defeated Sichuan Guancheng 2-1 in last year¡¯s final, took control in their quarter-final first leg clash against Inter as China international striker Li Jinyu fired them ahead in the 27th minute before midfielder Lu Zheng extended the away side¡¯s advantage with 13 minutes remaining.

Ivan Bulat pulled back a goal from the penalty spot with two minutes remaining to give Inter some hope of rescuing the tie in the return leg in Jinan on September 7.

In other first leg matches on Wednesday, Beijing Hyundai built a 2-0 lead against Shanghai Shenhua thanks to an early goal by Gao Dawei and Dan Alexa¡¯s second-half penalty, while China League side Xiamen Lanshi stunned Super League outfit 1-0 away with Qiao Ji Mu netting the winner.

Dalian sent Super League champions Shenzhen crashing out of the FA Cup despite their 1-0 loss in the southern city. Zhou Ting¡¯s 58th minute strike for the home side was not enough to turn around the tie with Dalian having built a 6-2 advantage in the first leg two weeks ago.

The first leg of the tie had been brought forward due to Shenzhen¡¯s involvement in the AFC Champions League. They travel to Saudi Arabia to meet Al Ahli in Jeddah on September 14, while Shandong entertain another Saudi side, defending ACL champions Al Ittihad, on the same night in Jinan.
