Beckham to sign new Real Madrid contract: report

England captain David Beckham is set to extend his contract with Real Madrid by two years till 2009, Spanish sports daily newspaper Marca reported.

Marca said Wednesday the 30-year-old midfielder, who has often said he is enjoying his time at the Spanish giants and would like to end his career there, asked club president Florentino Perez for the extension.

Perez agreed and the deal should go through in September.

"I am very happy at Madrid," Beckham said in New York on May 31. "I have two years left on my contract and I would like to finish my career there."

Beckham signed a four-year contract in June 2003 after been transferred from Manchester United for 35 million euros.
