Fruits from Taiwan -- duty free (newsphoto) Updated: 2005-08-01 14:18
A store clerk is busy weighing fruits for
customers in a department store in downtown Beijing August 1, 2005. From
Monday, 15 categories of Taiwan-grown fruit are available for mainland
consumers at a cheaper price as import tariff is scrapped. Beijing's move
to unilaterally implement the tax break, offered by the mainland in early
May, will be of great benefits to fruit-growers in Taiwan.
