Baptista dreams of all Brazilian attacking trio at Real (Reuters) Updated: 2005-07-30 20:41
Last week Arsenal offered close to 24 million for the versatile forward but
the player decided on Real because he wanted to remain in Spain.
"It wasn't an easy option, but I'm sure that it is the best option for
everyone," he said.
"I didn't want to go to England because I'm better suited to the style of
play and the way of life in Spain. As for Barcelona, they only showed interest
last year."
Real have said Baptista will be officially presented at the Bernabeu on
Monday, before joining his new team mates at their pre-season training camp in
Austria on August 3.
Robinho, however, will not join Real until August 25 after the Primera Liga
side reached an agreement with Santos to let the 21-year-old play a farewell
game with his old club.
Earlier in the week, Santos refused to accept the $30 million Real offered to
buy the striker out of his contract, but they have now agreed to let the player
go for an unspecified fee.
