Rijkaard stays in Barcelona until 2009

Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard has committed himself to the Spanish champions Barcelona until 2009.

"We have reached an agreement with the club and I will sign the contract after the Asian tour," Rijkaard said in a news conferenceon Tuesday at the club's pre-season training camp in Denmark.

"The club has shown confidence in me and the coaching staff. Now the most important thing is to get on and enjoy the day to day work at the club."

Last season Rijkaard led Barcelona to their first Primera Liga title in six years and the first knockout stage of the Champions League before losing to Chelsea.

Barcelona will set off on their tour of Asia on July 28 and play J-League champions Yokohama F-Marinos in Tokyo on July 30, and China's Shenzhan Jianlibao in Macao on August 3.
