Beijing prepares Olympics security measures
Beijing police have started to build up higher standard of security policy and inspection in an effort to be well prepared for the coming Olympics Games 2008. The is getting ready for the Olympics Games highlighting the security measures after the London terrorist attacks on July 7. "There are only around a thousand days to go before the Olympics Games 2008, we have to every opportunity to raise our risk-management ability towards terrorist attacks and familiarizing ourselves with higher security inspection for the Olympics Games," said Ma Zhenchuan, director of the Beijing Public Security Bureau. Ma made the remarks at a security planning meeting for the Olympic Games on
Wednesday, reported the Beijing News on Thursday. The security implementation has been divided into four phrases: pre-preparation, construction, adjustment and implementation. Beijing has already warmed up by several Asian Cup events during the pre-preparation stage and has reached the construction period, which will have a direct bearing on the success of the Games. Followed by the adjustment phrase from January to June 2008, the security system will be ready for implementation when the Olympics Games started in July 2008. During the construction stage, Beijing's public security will focus on establishing ten defense systems for the Olympics such as the structural command system, intelligence collection system and warning assessment system. Other safety infrastructures will also be built around the Games venues. These ten defense systems will be finished before 2008, according to Ma. And
there will be another four more safety nets during the Olympics Games for
patrolling, public security, internal security and community security.
