China third in volleyball GP after Brazil, Italy

"There are many ups and downs for the Chinese team during the tournament. We made a lot of mistakes and team play is not so smooth."

China were edged out by former champions Cuba 3-2 in the opening day and then suffered a 3-0 rout to Italy.

Cuba downed the Netherlands 25-20, 25-22, 25-20 in another match.

Italy, China and Cuba ended with a 3-2 win-loss record with the world champions Italy taking second place due to a better set ratio, followed by China third and Cuba fourth.

Japan finished fifth and the Netherlands at the bottom with a 1-4 record.
