Olympics: China launches Games satellite

China will launch a micro-satellite especially for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Officials from the Science and Technology Committee for the Games say the satellite, which will be launched next month, will monitor the surroundings of the venues in Beijing during the Olympics.

The 130-kilogram satellite will send pictures and messages to the control center once a week.
